We lost a great, great man today- Coach Bill Walsh.

At best I can only add my own praise and now my sadness of a man who, along with 49ers then owner Eddie DeBartolo, Quarterback Joe Montana and the phenomenal 49er organization all gave our town the greatest sports year, indeed the greatest sports decade we ever had or may ever have again, at least in my lifetime.

Though I never emerged as a sports photographer like my good pal 49ers team photographer Michael Zagaris, I did have the ginormous pleasure of spending the 1984 Superbowl winning season with my home team.

One of my greatest pleasures was to shake this man’s hand. We’ll miss you Coach.
